Indonesian prosecutes company after being force to return home due to inadequate of Japanese skills

Ricky Amrullah, an Indonesian who was contracted for three years to work at a fisheries company in Japan filed a lawsuit against the company and a cooperative after being forced to come back home due to his lacking Japanese language skills.

On Thursday, Amrullah brought his case to Hiroshima District Court. He was seeking compensations for the three years’ salaries he would have earned and the psychological difficulty that he suffered from the fisheries company Maruko and Chua International Cooperative.

He requested to Maruko and Chua International Cooperative to pay the compensation about ¥7.05 million ($64,000)

According to the information, Amrullah came to work in Japan through government-sponsored internship program in January 2018. He worked at a fish farm in Higashihiroshima and participated in a Japanese class program offered by the cooperative.

In February he signed a contract for three years with Maruko. However before he could start, the cooperation forced him to return home because of his “inadequate of Japanese skills”.

At the press conference, Amrullah said that he was cheated by the cooperative but he still wants to continue working in Japan.

Meanwhile the cooperative said that his claim does not appear to be in line with the facts.
