Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Information Technology Opens Registration for "1000 Digital Startup" National Movement

Startup companies are popping up in Indonesia since a few years ago. With the span of 5 years, new small startups are popping here and there, offering different types of service. As of 2019, it is reported that Indonesia has 4 unicorn startups, which are; Gojek, Tokopedia, Traveloka, and Bukalapak. The new startup companies would probably want to follow the steps of those four startup companies. To realize that, Kominfo (Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Information Technology) decided to make a startup educational program called ‘1000 Digital Startups National Movement’.

The purpose of this program is none other than to help the small and new startup to widen their network as well as increasing their quality. During the program, Kominfo will invite mentors who are competent in the startup business. According to general director information application Semuel Abrijani Pangerapan, the program will make the startup businessmen learn about the strategy, procedures and new features which can be applied onto their application.

Starting from this month until December 2019, the registration for this program is opened. Kominfo hopes startup companies would apply for the program as it is a good benefit for them. Any types of startup are welcome to apply for the 1000 Digital Startups National Movement.

According to a spokesperson from Kominfo Lis Sutijati, there are still many unsolved problems in Indonesia. Through this program, the government hopes the businessmen could see this as a business opportunity. Although the registration has only been opened for 3 days, there are about 4,000 startups who have registered for the 1000 Digital Startups National Movement.
