Indonesian Minister of Fisheries and Marine Affairs Tested Positive for Covid-19

Shock was coming from the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Affairs of The Republic of Indonesia since Edhy Prabowo, the Minister of Fisheries and Marine Affairs was confirmed of being infected by covid-19.

Rumours about him having the virus have been circulating for the last few days. However, there was no clarity whether it was a fact or just a hearsay. The minister is reported to be under self-isolation which is the immediate step that one needs to take upon being tested positive for covid-19.

The minister’s party, Gerindra, has been informed of his current status. Despite having the virus, the minister is still in a good condition. Gerindra’s General Secretary, Ahmad Muzani updated the public on his colleague’s condition. He said the minister was fine. It is still unclear if the minister is self-isolating at home or in a hospital.

Muzani said that Minister Prabowo is facing the disease with strength and patience. Other than the minister, two staffers at the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Affairs are reported to have been infected by the virus. As a result of this development, the parliamentary session that was going to be attended by representatives of the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Affairs was moved to this week. Prior to knowing that the minister and two staff members of the ministry had contracted covid-19, the session was scheduled to be carried out last week.

The headquarter of the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Affairs is so quiet after its minister is reported to caught covid-19. Security guards were also avoiding journalists and reporters to enter the building.
