Indonesian Health Ministry asserts Chinese import goods safe from coronavirus

Indonesia’s Ministry of Health ensured that Chinese goods imported to Indonesia are safe from the novel coronavirus. The virus had claimed the lives of 80 people since its wake. Health Ministry's health crisis prevention center head, Achmad Yurianto, made the statement.

Speaking in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Building, Achmad further stated that the coronavirus only inhabits within the cells of living things. Therefore, even though these imported Chinese goods are exposed to the coronavirus, it will not affect living beings.

Achmad compared the virus with a parasite living on a tree. If a tree is dead, then the parasite cannot inhabit it. The same principle goes to the imported Chinese goods.

Therefore, it is impossible for Chinese goods such as clothes, electronics, and other dead things infect the living with the virus. Achmad asserted that the Indonesian people should not be too paranoid about facing the novel coronavirus.

Instead of worrying about the imported goods, Achmad instructed all the Indonesian people to pay more attention to their lifestyle, since it might be the gate for the virus to enter. Regarding the planes making flights to and from Wuhan, Achmad ensured that the planes have cleansed it with their own disinfectants.
