Indonesian coffee Kapal Api brand enters New Zealand’s market

The leading coffee brand in Indonesia Kapal Api is ready to enliven the coffee industry in New Zealand. According to the Indonesian Plantation Companies Association (GPPI), ready-to-use coffee products of Kapal Api will be available in the country’s supermarkets.

Delima H.A. Darmawan, the general chairperson of GPPI said New Zealand’s supermarket chains, including Count Down – the country’s biggest supermarket chain, had tried to sell Kapal Api’s packaged coffee products.

The association also looked for participation from Indonesian who stay in Wellington and Australia to promote the brand’s products, told Darman to Antara on Monday.

Earlier, the first Pacific Exposition was held in Auckland, New Zealand from July 11 – 14. Twenty Pacific countries participated in the expo, which one of the main discussions was developing business in the region.

During the expo, Indonesia successfully showcased and promoted coffee, tea, cocoa, and Indonesian palm oil derivative products, according to the general chairperson of GPPI.

Several coffee roasters were reportedly to have an interest in importing GPPI’s “green bean” products. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to import the products has been signed by the association and coffee roasters.

Indonesian coffee is well known for its robust and strong sensation. In the previous month, the capital city of Germany hosted World of Coffee 2019. As one of the biggest coffee producers in the world, Indonesia opened a booth and participated in the international coffee exhibition for 3 days, starting from June 6 to 8. The coffee booth was like a magnet for coffee lover and visitors.

Arabica coffee was introduced as the advantages of Indonesian coffee, along with coffee from Bandung, Flores, Toraja (South Sulawesi) and East Java.

During the exhibition, visitors not only get product samples but also could taste the scent and coffee from Indonesia’s high-quality products.
