Indonesia-Slovakia enhance partnership on the Industrial Sector

Indonesia government through the provincial government of East Java met with Slovak Ambassador to Indonesia at Surabaya on Tuesday, July 30, 2019. The meeting between the vice governor of East Java Emil Dardak and Mr. Jaroslav Chlebo was to discuss collaboration on the industrial sector - the industrial revolution 4.0.

As earlier, Indonesia’s Minister of Industry Airlangga said the industrial revolution 4.0 can level up the economic growth of Indonesia.

According to East Java’s Vice Governor, Slovakia and East Java will focus on the industrial revolution 4.0 since both of the nations have industrial centers as well as have similarities in the sector.

The partnership between East Java and Slovakia is expected can develop and also become a way for other cities in Indonesia to enter the Europe market.

In addition to the industrial area, the development of information and technology (ICT) is also becoming a main focus of Slovakia.

The effort to strengthen cooperation between Indonesia and Slovakia has been discussed by both countries from last year. On 12 October 2018, an Indonesia-Slovakia Business Forum held in Jakarta was organized by Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) along with Slovakian Investment and Trade Development Agency (SARIO), and Embassy of the Slovak and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Indonesia and Slovakia businessmen with a total of 150 people as well as 23 Slovak companies participated in the forum. During the business forum, participants talk over mutually beneficial cooperation between both countries in some sectors, such as biotechnology, defense, food industry, energy, woods products and metals, and engineering.

According to a report, Slovakia is one of the countries that support Indonesia’s tourism sector with an investment worth $100-300 thousand. The number of Slovakian travelers who had visited Indonesia reached 8,368 tourists in 2017.
