Indonesia sees 117 confirmed cases of COVID-19

For the recent month, the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has been a trending topic in Indonesia. Since 8 March, the news covered a lot of topics about COVID-19. As Indonesia was finally breached by the pandemic, the World Health Organization (WHO) did send a letter to the President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, to warn about the impact.

Speaking on Sunday, Health Ministry’s disease control and prevention director-general, Achmad Yurianto, stated that the number of confirmed cases in Indonesia had reached 117 cases, 21 new cases in Jakarta, and 2 in Central Java. They are spread in Jakarta, Tangerang, Bandung, Solo, Yogyakarta, Bali, Manado, and Pontianak.

Per Saturday, there were 96 people were tested positive for COVID-19 in Indonesia, with five people passed away due to and eight people recovered from the pandemic.

Similar to the general direction for all Indonesian people, Yurianto advised all Indonesian people to avoid mass gatherings if it is not needed. He said that there is online communication for now. Fortunately, Yurianto predicted that there will be seven people recovering from the pandemic. Yurianto assured that the government will update the data regularly.

Currently, the Transportation Minister, Budi Karya Sumadi, was tested positive for the COVID-19, becoming the 76th case in Indonesia and the first Indonesian government official. The incident called all the Indonesian government, including Jokowi, to test for the COVID-19.
