Indonesia's Transportation Ministry to monitor Sriwijaya Air's 3S+1C

Indonesia’s Ministry of Transportation promised that it will supervise the fulfillment of safety, security, service, and compliance (3S+1C) aspects in the flight operations of Sriwijaya Air after it disbanded from Garuda Indonesia.

Director-General of Air Transportation, Polana B. Pramesti, said that she will supervise the optimality of contingency and mitigation plans in Sriwijaya Air’s flight operations so that its service can be implemented well.

As asserted by Polana on Sunday, she said that Sriwijaya Air and Nam Air are required to maintain the airworthiness and safe-for-operations of all of its aircraft. Currently, Sriwijaya Air operates 11 airplanes to 32 routes.

She also stated that Directorate General of Air Transportation (Ditjen Hubud) is keeping an eye on Sriwijaya Air and Nam Air through the Directorate of Airworthiness and Aircraft Operations, and Angkasa Pura as the airport authority to ensure the fulfillment of 3S+1C.

Sriwijaya Air and Nam Air are required to maintain the quality of their services according to the standard operation procedure (SOP) submitted to the Ditjen Hubud to maintain the security and safety of their customers.

On Friday, Sriwijaya Air decided to break its cooperation with Garuda Indonesia. The draft for extension of cooperation between the two airlines was supposed to be completed on Thursday. However, a deadlock occurred when it came to appointing the board of directors for Sriwijaya Air.

Therefore, Sriwijaya decided to part its way as they said that Garuda tried to “cripple” the airline.
