Indonesia's Minister of Finance allows days off due to the flood

Indonesia’s Minister of Finance, Sri Mulyani Indrawati, allowed the absences of the civil servants (PNS) in the Finance Ministry due to the mass flood in Jakarta on Tuesday. Due to the flood, some civil servants had no access to go to work.

Sri Mulyani also offered her sympathy for the people affected by the flood. Sri Mulyani also posted pictures of some offices of the Finance Ministry including her office which are also inundated by the flood due to the torrential rain since Monday night. The inundated offices included Directorate General of Customs and Duty and Cibitung District Tax Office.

The incident was feared to disrupt the Ministry’s workflow.

Regardless of the absence, the former World Bank’s Managing Director said that some of the workloads will be completed through e-office. In other words, it is teleworking.

Furthermore, Sri Mulyani said that the civil servants are struggling to provide assistance for the afflicted offices. The Finance Minister also stated her hope that Jakarta will soon be free from flood and the activity will return to normal.

The State Palace is also inundated by the flood, based on the pictures forwarded to Palace’s Press WhatsApp group at 4.30 a.m. local time. Fortunately, currently, the situation has gone back to normal.
