PT Shyang Yao Fung, a manufacturer of Adidas brand shoes in Indonesia, has terminated its employees (PHK). The information was conveyed by the Director of Industrial Relations Dispute Settlement at the Ministry of Manpower John Daniel Saragih.

However, based on the information he received, the problem of layoffs had been resolved facilitated by the Tangerang City Manpower Office. "Because they can solve it themselves. If I'm not mistaken Shyang was paid twice severance," he told CNNIndonesia.com.

Previously, the Indonesian Footwear Association (Aprisindo) confirmed that Shyang Yao Fung had laid off. The company reasoned the decision to lay off because of the planned relocation of factories from Tangerang, Banten to Brebes, Central Java.

Aprisindo Executive Director Firman Bakri said that he had communicated with the management of Shyang Yao Fung regarding the mass layoffs. Based on the information he received, the number of employees affected by layoffs reached around 2,000 people.

"The layoffs will be carried out in two stages, namely the stages of May 13, 2020 and May 20, 2020," said Firman recently.

In the initial stage, Firman said the number of employees would be laid off as many as 1,800 people. Meanwhile, the remaining around 200 employees will be laid off on May 20, 2020.
