Hundreds of curious Japanese turn up to see Trump on state visit

TOKYO – On Saturday, May 25, Trump arrived at an airport, and hundreds of Japanese were there to see him. The U.S. President Donald Trump, went to Japan for a state visit and the security level was rose to its maximum level.

More than 500 people went to an area on the fifth floor of Tokyo’s Haneda airport. Most of them are using their cameras and smartphones to take pictures of Trump and first lady Melania during their arrival using the Air Force One.

Mitsuhiro Nakayama, a 38 year-old Utsunomiya residence, arrived at Haneda Airport, after about 100 kilometers of journey. He stated that it was the first he saw Air Force One, which he thought it was huge. He also needed to wait for three hours to see Trump. Yoichi Nagai, 50, from Ushiku, Ibaraki Prefecture also said that it was a once in a lifetime experience to see Trump in Japan.

A lot of preparations were made before the arrival of the U.S. President. Authorities banned the use of trash boxes and coin lockers in areas where non passengers can enter, as well as closed its observation decks—a few hours before Trump’s arrival. Not only at the airport, but Tokyo was also protected by 25,000 police officers. They also have patrol around and limiting road traffic.

On Sunday, Trump is planning to play golf and watch sumo with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. On Monday, Trump will be greeted by Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako on Monday, before meeting with Abe. Donald Trump is the first state guest under the new imperial era Reiwa.
