Hugh Jackman: I Almost Dropped Wolverine

When we see Hugh Jackman, which character do we remember? Of course, it is Wolverine, a mutant who can pull out and pull in a pair of adamantium claws from his palms. Jackman’s character as Wolverine was hailed to be one of his best performances in movie industry, thanks to 20th Century Fox and Marvel.

But, who knows that there was a dark secret that almost failed him to play an iconic character that will stick to him forever. During a show called “Hugh Jackman: The Man, The Music, The Show” in London, he revealed to the audience that he was almost rejected to play the wolf-like mutant.

The X-Men franchise was a gateway for him to enter the Hollywood industry. So, he got all the reserved rights to be angry.

“So, they told me that the things did not go as planned, and they intended to fire me,” told Jackman to Daily Mail. He added that he was quite furious, and the victim who had to hear his complaining was his wife, Deborah Lee-Furness.

The 50 years old man told the media that X-Men was considered to be the biggest movie in his career. Truth be told, before Hugh Jackman made it to Hollywood, he once played in 2 Australian movies: “Paperback Hero” & “Erskinville Kings”, before finally cast into playing the mutant.

If Hugh Jackman thanked his wife after, then we all should have thanked Deborah for saving Hugh Jackman from really abandoning the X-Men. “Deb just told me to ignore what others said about me and focused to being Wolverine based on my instinct,” recalled Hugh Jackman.

Her advice was proven effective, as Jackman eventually nailed the role, and we now know him as “Logan”, and of course “The Greatest Showman”.
