Huawei Announced Its Own OS Called Harmony

Huawei just introduced its own software at a developer conference in Dongguan, China. The software is called Harmony, which is "Hongmeng" in Chinese. Richard Yu, the CEO of Huawei's consumer business group, said that even though Harmony can be used anytime, the company still prioritize Android for Huawei. When Huawei can't use Android anymore, the company will switch to its own OS. He also stated it's not hard to migrate from Android to Harmony as Huawei's OS.

Harmony will be applied to Huawei's smart watches, smart screens, smart speakers and other devices, including "in-vehicle systems". The OS and devices will be integrated with each other. Richard Yu also said that Harmony will be open sourced. Harmony is the solution for escalated trade war between U.S. and China. As the world's second largest smartphone seller, Huawei relied on Google services, including the Android system and the Google Play app store.

U.S. rule prevents its firms from selling tech and software to Huawei unless the company has a license. That affects Google's partnership with Huawei. The blacklist limited Huawei to the public version of Android to be planted in new devices. The company's sales is suffered as well in international markets. Now the company has hope to fix the situation by providing its own supply.
