Hoping to Indonesia, Softbank will Add Investments Up to USD 5 Billion for the Next 5 Years

Jakarta, Indonesia - According to The Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs, Luhut Binsar Panjaitan, there is a great chance that one of the biggest Japanese companies, Softbank, increases its investment in Indonesia to USD 10 billion in the next five years, equivalent to IDR 142 trillion.

It is reported that Softbank Group CEO, Masayoshi Son was impressed with Indonesia's promising economy in the future and want to invest in Indonesian market. He also stated that Masayoshi is sure about this decision, especially after he met President Joko Widodo at the Presidential Palace Complex last week and he was very impressed with the Indonesian economic data, mainly Grab and Tokopedia in Indonesia.

Luhut said that Masayoshi is very confident with Indonesia, even a meeting with President Joko Widodo which was only 30 minutes became an hour meeting. Then, he was also the first time giving a press conference here, something he rarely did before and he did enjoy his visit to Indonesia as well.

He also added that because of this good economic situation, there is a possibility they will add more investments to reach USD 10 billion over the next five years as Masayoshi has high hopes for Indonesia.

However, apparently, Softbank investment number is not the most important factor for the government as this Softbank funding will open space for other investors to be interested in investing in Indonesia and to join the Indonesian markets.
