Hokkaido Earthquake

An earthquake with an intensity of 7 on the Japanese seven‐stage seismic scale occurred in Hokkaido early in the morning of the 6th of September.
The epicenter was Iburi area - south west area of Hokkaido and near Muroran.
One week has passed and the local police and municipality announced that 41 people were killed and 1,291 houses and buildings were damaged.
Another big impact was the cancellation of hotel reservations. 
Hokkaido is a fun destination of Japanese and foreign tourists in this season, but the earthquake followed by black-out for 2 days made around 500,000 reservations cancelled, according to the media.
Although the direct damage caused by the earthquake is confined to the area of Iburi, the tourism industry throughout Hokkaido is now suffering.
