Sochi, Russia – On Tuesday (14/5),  Mike Pompeo, the Foreign Minister of the United States told the reporters at a resort in Sochi, Russia, that US and Russia have the same views and goals and he hope they can find a way to work together to resolving the North Korean nuclear issue. He also stated that Vladimir Putin, The president of Russia, understands that the US will lead this activity in handling this issue, and looking forward to work together with several things and contexts.

US and Russia realized that North Korea has become one of the issues in the focus of the two countries in accordance with US efforts to date to persuade Pyongyang to stop its dangerous nuclear program that is still on hold.

This meeting between Pompeo and Putin also happened a few weeks after Putin met North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un for the first time in Vladivostok on April 25 and discussed several political things. However, during the meeting, Kim complained to Putin about the "bad ethics" attitude of the US in denuclearization negotiations that was discussed a couple months ago after Kim Jong-un met with President Donald Trump for the second time in March in Hanoi, Vietnam and leading to disagreement.

President Trump wants North Korea to close its missile and nuclear testing sites. Trump also  mentioned that the US will continue to apply several sanctions until North Korea is completely clean of nuclear weapons. Meanwhile, Kim Jong-un wants the US to revoke sanctions gradually during the nuclear disarmament process in North Korea.
