Hastag #BoycottJapan in the Midst of South Korea and Japan Freud

Tensions between Japan and South Korea have intensified again. South Korean netizens don’t like the restrictions on exports of high-tech products made by Japan to South Korea. They also began to boycott products from Sakura's country by enlivening #boycottjapan hastag on social media. #boycottjapan has been trending on social media. On Instagram, this hastag has been posted as many as 2,400 times.

Some South Koreans have also canceled their trips to Japan, especially to popular destinations such as Tokyo and Osaka. This is certainly a loss for Japan, considering that South Korea has contributed as much as 13 percent of tourist spending in the sunrise country.

Not only Japanese products, this boycott also affected Japanese public figures in the South Korean entertainment industry. Because South Korean netizens also threatened to boycott them, especially those in K-pop group. They are Myoui Mina, Mirai Momo, Minatozaki Sana who are members of the girl group TWICE, as well as Miyawaki Sakura, Yabuki Nako, and Honda Hitomi from girl group IZ * ONE. South Korean netizens have requested that they should be returned to their home countries immediately. Even so, there are some netizens who think that the girl group members shouldn’t be involved in state matters.

Previously, Japan had made new regulations relating to restrictions on the export of three raw materials produced to South Korea. Though these raw materials are very much needed for the smartphone and chip industry in South Korea.
