Hallyu Star" Jung Yong-hwa's appearance on a Chinese variety show was abruptly canceled at the last minute.

Over this issue, there have been speculations that China may be re-enforcing its restrictions on Korea due to the recent cooling of relations between Korea and China in relation to the Taiwan issue and other issues. Prior to this, on the 10th of this month, the Chinese media "Xinjing News" reported that Jung Yong-hwa would appear in a new audition program "Struggle, New Student Group 1" on the major Chinese online video service (OTT) "IQYIY (Aiqiyi).

On the 17th, after Jung Yong-hwa arrived in Beijing, he posted photos of his arrival at the airport through social media (SNS), making his appearance in the show a fait accompli. Recently, however, a report circulated online in China that the Beijing Radio and TV station responded to an inquiry about Jung Yong-hwa's appearance by saying that it was "not true. According to the content, Beijing Radio TV said, "After checking with IQYIY, the news that Jung Yong-hwa will be filming a variety show in Beijing is not true," and that "the program in question will not use Jung Yong-hwa as a guest in the future.

Online media such as China's Tencent reported that a Chinese netizen reported Jung Yong-hwa's planned appearance to the broadcasting authorities that day, which led to his non-appearance. Some online media introduced that it was confirmed that the Han Limit Order had not been withdrawn. The Chinese authorities are of the position that the Han Limit Order, which was initiated during the 2016 THAAD (Terminal High Altitude Missile Defense System) dispute, is not a government-level measure. However, due to the nature of Chinese society, there are few objections to the Chinese cultural and artistic circles restricting the distribution of Korean popular culture according to government guidelines and directions.

On the other hand, Jung Yong-hwa's agency said, "We are not in a position to clarify" in this regard.
