Governor of Hokkaido request support to PM Suga
Governor Naomichi Suzuki of Hokkaido, where the number of people infected with the new coronavirus is increasing rapidly, visited the Prime Minister's Office on the morning of the 10th and met with Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga. Governor Suzuki reported on the 9th that the number of new infections reached a record high of 200 in Hokkaido, and sought government support.
Specific requests were (1) continuation of dispatch of experts for infection control in downtown areas, (2) continuation of dispatch of experts to local health centers, and (3) consideration of infection control in cold regions. After the visit, Governor Suzuki told reporters, "I explained the current situation of the road to the Prime Minister and asked for future support. I would like to suppress (infection) at all costs in November. I will do my best for three weeks. I will work on it. "
It also announced a policy to expand the accommodation facility for mildly ill patients in Sapporo city and increase the number of people accepted from the current 670 to 1,000.
In Hokkaido, the number of infected people has increased rapidly since the end of October when the cold weather increased. The largest number of new infections has been confirmed every day. On the 7th, Michi raised its own five-stage "warning stage" from "2" to "3" and refrained from operating late at night at restaurants in the Susukino district of Sapporo, where clusters (groups of infected people) are frequent. And so on. However, the number of infected people has not stopped, and the medical system is becoming tight due to the rapid increase in inpatients.
If the infection continues to spread as it is, the road may raise the alert stage to "4", and stricter measures such as refraining from traffic in the road may be considered, and it may be excluded from the national "Go-To" campaign.
