Google officially launches Pixel 4 & 4XL, what are the differences?

On Tuesday, Google officially launched its latest products for its Pixel series, Pixel 4 and Pixel 4XL in New York City, the United States (U.S). Of course, by the name, we got the idea that Pixel 4 and 4XL are two different smartphones. However, what is the differences?

In terms of specification, Pixel 4 and 4XL only have two major differences: screen size and battery capacity. Pixel 4 has a 5.7-inch 1080p display, while Pixel 4XL has a much wider screen at 6.3-inch with Quad HD display.

While the sizes are different, both screens offer a 90Hz refresh rate to assure the responsiveness and smoothness while scrolling down your social media feed. However, if the battery gets low, the refresh rate automatically lowers to 60Hz.

For battery, the difference between Pixel 4 and 4XL is quite far, at 2,800 mAh and 3,700 mAh respectively. The battery features quick charging and wireless charging.

As the main developer of Android, the buyers of Pixel 4 and 4XL will first experience the latest generation of Android 10. Both smartphones are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset with 6 GB of RAM, making it really smooth for gaming.

In the front part of Pixel 4 and 4XL, sensors are storing key features of these smartphones. Google finally adapted face unlock system, and motion detection system called Motion Sense.

With Motion Sense, the users don’t have to touch the screen to operate the phone, just by the gestures of their hands. You don’t like Motion Sense? You can deactivate it on the Settings.

Google really invested its features in Pixel 4’s and 4XL’s camera. Both smartphones have double rear cameras with a 12.2 MP wide lens and 16 MP telephoto lens. For the front camera, both have an 8 MP camera. The telephoto lens has a “super-zoom” feature that captures images with the best quality without having to crop it.

These cameras have four new features: Live HDR+, Night Sight with astrophotography, improved white balancing, and Portrait Mode. Live HDR+ provides users with predicted photos with refined quality before taking it, so that the users don’t have to do the hassle picking and editing the photos. Meanwhile, there is the improved Night Sight feature, now equipped with the long-exposure astrophotography, that allows users to capture the starry night sky by reducing the noise and hot pixels.

Pixel 4 and 4XL will be available for shipping on 24 October and in three color variants: black (Just Black), white (Clearly White), and the limited orange (Oh So Orange). Both are sold with 68 GB and 128 GB internal memory capacity. Pixel 4 will be sold at $799, and the Pixel 4 XL at $899. You can pre-order these smartphones on Google’s main site.
