Gojek to extend services in tourism and MSMEs sector

Gojek is now extending its business to tourism and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) after success in turning a ride-hailing online app into many services such as food, shopping and even platform for mobile payments.

Go-Jek releases its new feature called “Enjoy Jakarta” to promote the capital city tourism together with the Jakarta administration. The feature is available in Gotix page in the app where users can gain information about festivals and events in Jakarta.

On Saturday, June 22 at Lapangan Banteng, Central Jakarta, the Vice President of Corporate Affairs Gojek Michael said any information related to the city, including events, museum and even what’s the current things happening in Jakarta are accessible through Gotix page.

The purpose of the partnership between the company and the Jakarta government is not merely to support the city tourism industry but also to enhance the digitization system of Jakarta as a smart city since everyone can access the “Enjoy Jakarta”.

Gojek is also going to launch a new program in micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) sector named “GoWirausaha” in order to generate 200,000 entrepreneurs in Jakarta. The company intends to work together with Jakarta’s National Craft Council (Dekranasda).

GoWirausaha is designed like business training where new entrepreneurs can join in. During the training, participants will be taught how to grow a business and exist in the digital economy era (4.0).

As the largest online services company in Southeast Asia, Gojek became the first decacorn in Indonesia with a US$10 billion valuation.

On Thursday, April 11, The president of Indonesia Joko Widodo congratulated the company for its success. It is hoped Gojek could be an example for other Indonesian startups to expand their business to the regional and global stage, as the president said.
