Get rid of these habits to prevent yellow teeth

Without any cost, a smile is a generic make-up one freely possess. A beautiful smile does not only lay on the plump lips but also the clean teeth. Clean, white teeth attract people closer to your smile.

Nowadays, many dentists offer veneering. Veneering is a process of layering your teeth in with either composite or porcelain to make your teeth look whiter and protect your teeth from damage. However, to get your teeth veneered, you need to wring your wallet dry.

Rest assured, if you want to make your teeth whiter without emptying your pocket, you can avoid these habits:

1. NAIL-BITTING
Some people bite their nails when they are nervous. However, the habit is unhealthy for your teeth as it might scrape the enamel layer on your teeth. The enamel layer is a layer covering your teeth, protecting it from damage and discoloration. Also, you have to get rid of unconsciously gnashing your teeth at night as it also scrapes off the enamel from your teeth.

2. CONSUMING COLORED FOOD AND BEVERAGES
Some food and beverages may leave its mark on your teeth. Naturally, our teeth can protect themselves from the colors. However, the chemical ingredients in some food and beverages make plaque stick to the teeth.

Beverages, such as tea or coffee, can make your teeth yellow. They leave chemical pigments such as tannin. Also, avoid soda, as it might also scrape the teeth enamel, leaving the same damage as nail-bitting.

To prevent these things, try drinking mineral water while eating, and substitute these colored drinks to mineral water.

3. NEVER FLOSSING
Flossing helps you get rid of the food or other things between your teeth; it reaches places toothbrush cannot. However, most of the people don’t floss. Now, since you have read this, you better floss at night when saliva production is at its lowest.

4. SMOKING
It is not good for your lungs, nor is it good for your teeth. Take a look at the dental cavity of an active smoker. It shows no other colors but black and yellow. It is because of certain chemicals in a cigar such as tar and nicotine that change the teeth color to yellow.
