Garuda is the most punctual airline in the world: Survey

Indonesian aviation, rejoice! OAG had released its annual Punctuality League 2020, a comprehensive ranking of on-time performance (OTP) for the world’s largest airlines and airports. The result showed that Garuda Indonesia is the most punctual airline!

OAG stated that Asia-Pacific carriers and airports continued to show exceptional OTP in 2020; and, many carriers have improved their OTPs.

While Asia-Pacific airlines dominated the ranking on the top 20 ranks. Garuda Indonesia sits in the first place, Skymark Airlines being third, All Nippon Airways (ANA) being seventh, Jetstar Asia being eighth, Singapore Airlines being ninth, Thai AirAsia being 10th, Japan Airlines (JAL) being 15th, Qantas Airways being 18th, and Indonesia AirAsia being 20th.

Garuda Indonesia took the top spot with an outstanding OTP of 95.01 percent. Jetstar Asia, Thai AirAsia, and Indonesia AirAsia have improved their OTPs.

Meanwhile, for the most punctual large airport, Japanese airport, Osaka Itami, took the top spot for the second consecutive year with an OTP of 88.03 percent. Sapporo’s New Chitose was also among the top 10 most punctual large airports with an OTP of 84.06 percent.

Tokyo’s Haneda took the second spot in mega airport category with an OTP of 86.60 percent, only bested by Moscow’s Sheremetyevo with an OTP of 86.87 percent. Singapore’s Changi, Kuala Lumpur’s KLIA, and Seoul’s Incheon have improved their OTPs in the mega airport categories.
