Funabashi Municipal High School, 90% of students are infected

At Municipal Funabashi High School, a cluster (a group of infected people) that infects 46 people occurs. A total of 7851 people were infected, including re-positive. In response to the highest number of infected people, Governor Kensaku Morita called for "take measures to protect the lives of yourself and your loved ones."

Funabashi City announced that a cluster had occurred in the men's basketball club at Funabashi Municipal High School (Ichiba 4-chome, Funabashi City).

Infection was confirmed in a total of 46 people, including 6 faculty members including advisors of the department, 36 out of 39 members, and 4 non-members. All are said to be mild or asymptomatic. In the future, we will proceed with the investigation of close contacts.

According to the same high school, the department was practicing without wearing a mask according to the manual of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology. It is said that he had had a conversation in the changing room without wearing a mask, and the city health center thinks that the infection spread during breaks. He also played practice games with multiple high schools.

After the teacher's infection was found on the 5th, the class was closed on the 8th and the school was temporarily closed from the 9th.

The men's basketball club was in the top 16 of last year's National High School Championship (Winter Cup), and has decided to participate in the tournament, which starts on the 23rd this year as well. The soccer club has also decided to participate in the national tournament, which starts on the 31st, for the second consecutive year. Due to the temporary closure, the gymnastics club declined the All Japan Championship, which was scheduled to participate on the 11th.

Regarding participation in these national competitions and club activities, Principal Terunobu Tomaru said, "I would like to consider how to deal with this after the temporary closure."
