Four people wounded during Toronto Raptor’s victory parade

A parade celebrating Toronto Raptor’s NBA championship has turned into panic and confusion by a shooting which caused four people wounded and two people were taken into police custody. The incident happened in front of Toronto’s modernist City Hall when the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau were congratulating the team as the first for an NBA team based outside the United States.

Mark Saunders, the chief of the Toronto Police said that the cause of the shooting remained unclear. He also added that he had no reason to believe a continuing risk to public safety. The apprehension were done in a very short period of time after the incident itself.

There is no victims with life-threatening injuries, however, two people were in serious condition. One of the victim was shot in front of a courthouse which was closed for the parade. The celebration at City Hall continued without any interruption of the high police and security presence.

It has been confirmed by the Toronto Transit Commission that two of its special constables had been involved in an arrest. A national television news channel have published a photograph of several police pinning down a person in outside of a subway entrance one block from where the celebration take place.
