Ford to reenter the Indonesian automotive market

RMA Indonesia, a branch of the RMA Group, is considering its status change from the provider of spare parts and after-sales service for Ford to the distributor in Indonesia. In other words, RMA Indonesia may bring back the American car to Indonesia. Since 2016, Ford is unavailable in Indonesia.

Since the departure of Ford Motor Indonesia as a trademark holding agent for Ford Motor Company in January 2016, Ford’s production line in Indonesia has been put to stop. Ford cars entered the Indonesian market since 2002. There were 44 dealers throughout Indonesia, and in 2015, about 6,000 units had been sold.

After settling the lawsuit from the consumers and dealers, by the end of 2019, RMA Indonesia is appointed to be Ford’s envoy to keep its customer service and warranty, and dealer going.

The COO of RMA Group, Chris Manley, stated that RMA has been cooperating with Ford as the after-sales service provider for two years. Manley urged Ford to make the decision to return to the Indonesian market. However, Ford Motor Company has not made any decision just yet.

To make its return, RMA Group stated that Ford might start by selling the Ranger pickup. Currently, Ranger is undergoing test drive by the dealers.
