Footage of Kawasaki Knife Attack Recorded by School Bus Dashcam

YOKOHAMA – A massive stabbing happened in Kawasaki and killed three people. While investigating the case, the police have found a footage of the stabbing, from a school bus dash cam.

According to the police, the footage shows the assailant, Ryuichi Iwasaki, 51, when he approached the Caritas Elementary School students. The students were lining up as they were waiting for the bus at a bus stop. The footage also shows how the man ends his life.

In the footage, Iwasaki is seen wearing gloves on his hand to prevent the knives from slipping. It is also shows the length of his knives—about 30 centimeter long. Iwasaki was approaching the school girls at that time. It is also reported that the police found two smaller knives in a backpack, which they found at the scene. They also found four empty knife boxes at his home in Kawasaki, when the police searched through his home on Wednesday.

The dead victims from this incident were Hanako Kuribayashi, an 11-year-old student and Satoshi Oyama, a 39-year-old Foreign Minister Official. They were killed at around 7:40 a.m. on Tuesday.

Caritas Elementary School is still closed after the attack. However female junior and senior high school which also run by the school were reopened on Thursday. The schools were also closed on Wednesday.
