Food supplier company had to go through liquidation and a loss of 125 jobs

The Good Food Chain had to face liquidation and had to suspend production for weeks after becoming the subject of a listeria investigation. The company loss 125 jobs although the Food Standards Agency said that the Good Food Chain is no longer part of the ongoing investigation

The investigation was launched after five people were suspected to have died after eating packaged sandwiches and salads produced by the company, which then linked to the case. According to the Staffordshire-based company, the case would cease trading due to the impact of the suspension on Friday which was voluntarily enforced on 5 June.

The products were withdrawn from hospitals across the UK. Martyn Corfield, The company’s owner, and founder said that he has been thinking constantly about the people who had died and those who are affected and their families. Furthermore, he said that the company has been cooperating well with the investigating authorities while the Wednesday’s confirmation that The Good Food Chain was not the source of the outbreak was welcome. However, it is too late for the company to go back to sustainable business as the confirmation came too late.

Corfield also felt sorry for the workers who have to be out of work over something they don’t do and delivered his feeling of gratitude for everything that the employees have done for the company. It is found that the listeria infection is rare and can be dangerous for pregnant women and their babies.
