Five Tourist Villages in Yogyakarta That Offer Immersive Experience to You

With a rich culture and many impressive destinations to explore, Yogyakarta will always have a special place in every traveler’s heart who come to visit. Just name a few most popular spots like an exotic historical museum that serves you with special drink whose recipe was made by the Kraton princess, Mount Merapi tour and major shopping street Malioboro.

BOBUNG TOURIST VILLAGE

Bobung is located in Putat village, Gunungkidul regency where you can find the most authentic wooden batik masks. Apart from making batik wooden masks, the village also makes puppets, trays, and other items. You can immerse in the process of creating the wooden mask through a workshop and at an artwork gallery.

Do not forget to experience the traditional performance of panji mask dance (Topeng Panji) every harvest season to express gratitude to the universe.

NGLANGGERAN TOURIST VILLAGE

It only takes you about 25 minutes from the city center to reach the village which is situated within the ancient volcano complex and an artificial lake.

The village provides you with green scenery and fresh air while you are busy engaging with nature in paddy fields. Get yourself experience in making masks and crafts, cooking local food or outdoor activities such as trekking, camping, and flying fox.

If you change your mind to stay through the night, do not worry! Just book a room at the village inns or homestays.

MANDING TOURIST VILLAGE

Manding village is about 15 kilometers away from downtown Yogyakarta.

If you're into leatherworks, this is a place for you to get high-quality leather crafts created by its residents like leather jackets, wallets, bags, and belts.

KELOR TOURIST VILLAGE

As a home of mushrooms and plant snakes fruit farmers and food producers, you can enjoy the green landscape by exploring a river as well as taste some local delicacies.

Kelor is located in Bangunkerto village, Sleman regency.

GIRILOYO BATIK VILLAGE

The village was declared as a site of a pilot project for creating hand-drawn batik with natural color.

Visitors can learn and gain insight from the locals how to make batik patterns by using canting with liquid hot wax. You will also get a small batik cloth for a keepsake!
