Experts: COVID-19 in Indonesia will end In June

Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) predicted that the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic caused by a novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) in Indonesia will end in June 2020. The prediction was made from the data obtained on 24 April.

On its official website, SUTD used a regressed susceptible-infected-recovered (SIR) model according to the data from many countries to estimate the life cycle of the COVID-19 pandemic and when it will end.

In an official statement, SUTD stated that the analysis and prediction were made merely for education and research purposes. SUTD’s data-based innovation lab used artificial intelligence (AI) to make the estimation.

For Indonesia, SUTD stated that the COVID-19 pandemics will end around 3 June 2020, and had already reached its peak around 19 – 21 April 2020. From all ASEAN countries, Indonesia was the last country to state COVID-19 infection. Besides Indonesia, Malaysia will see COVID-19’s end on 5 May, the Philippines on 7 May, and Singapore on 13 May.

On the published data, SUTD stated that the United States (U.S), the hardest-hit country with the most death rate due to COVID-19 in the world, will see the end of COVID-19 on 9 May 2020.

According to Indonesia’s Health Ministry, the number of COVID-19 cases in Indonesia per 25 April 2020 was 8,607 cases. From the number, 720 people died and 1,042 recovered.
