Ernst & Young Call Corona For Doubtful Future of AirAsia

Auditors Ernst & Young said the airline's financial condition was being severely depressed. Pressure comes from the spread of the corona virus that has occurred in recent months.

They said the virus that originally spread from China had triggered a decrease in air travel demand. As a result, the aviation industry, including AirAsia, is facing a major crisis.

Even because of the crisis, a number of world airlines have reduced the number of employees and some of them have left the business.

"Travel restrictions and borders imposed by countries around the world have caused a significant decrease in air travel demand which has an impact on the financial performance and cash flow of the group (AirAsia)," he said as quoted by AFP, (8/7).

"Uncertainty can also raise significant doubts about the ability of groups and companies to continue their survival," they added.

AirAsia once shook air travel in Southeast Asia. With the slogan "Now everyone can fly" they offer low-cost flights to the public.

However, AirAsia on Monday (6/7) reported a loss of 803 million ringgit or US $ 187 million during the first three months of this year. Losses caused by the spread of corona virus.
