Emirates Airline to Operate World’s Shortest Superjumbo A380 Flight

Emirates will claim another world’s shortest flight record, while other airlines are competing to be the longest flight operators.

After launching its first world’s shortest flight between Dubai and Doha in 2016 which is 379 kilometers away in between, the Middle East’s top airline will again mark the new record in the aviation industry. Just this time by operating the world’s biggest commercial airplane Airbus A380. As reported by CNN, Emirates is scheduled to fly the flights between Dubai and Muscat International Airport with A380 on July 1, in which the distance between the two cities is only 340 kilometers. Interestingly, the distance is even shorter than the length of all the wiring in the A380 that according to the plane manufacturer Airbus it would stretch over 500 kilometers if laid out from end to end.

Emirates is going to operate two Muscat flights with the superjumbo double-decker carriers, which offers three-class configuration: Economy class with 429 seats on the lower deck as well as 76 flat-bed seats in Business class and 13 First-class private suites on the upper deck.

The flights will offer a seamless ‘all A380’ journey to the long-haul travelers who will fly from or to Muscat via Dubai.

The senior vice president of Emirates' Commercial Operations Centre, Sheikh Majid Al Mualla, said in a statement that the introduction of A380 services to Muscat will enhance choice and travel preferences for travelers, and also offer the experience of the industry-leading products onboard to more of Emirates’ customers.
