Editorial: Abortion: Between Body Rights and Future

Abortion and free-sex are two in one package. Just recently, Alabama passed the bill to illegalize abortion for pregnant women, unless if the mother’s life is threatened. The law sounds good, and it has good intention. The law charges 99 years of imprisonment to the doctor who practices the abomination.

However, many women and men (too!?) are up in arms against the law. They claimed that human has the authority to decide what to do with their bodies (what?). And, for them, because “life does not begin from the womb”, then it is safe to abort the baby. Well, frankly speaking, to prevent these unwanted babies to be trash to society or to be a disgrace to their families, they choose to kill it before it lays eggs, I meant, kill it before he/she sees the world.

Strident criticisms also came from celebrities. Take example from Gigi Hadid. Some people decided to unfollow Gigi Hadid from Instagram because she was down for abortion, seeing it as a decision which can only be made by the women; hence, against the bill.

Not only Gigi Hadid, but Cara Delavigne, Emma Watson (well, she is a feminist, so not a surprise), and many more. They altogether posted a pict about “Men Shouldn’t Be Making Laws About Women’s Body” or the picture of 25 congress members that passed the law.

One of the male protesters is Chris Evans, the famous Captain America. Through his tweet, he mentioned that the congress should be adhering to “Roe v. Wade”, a law passed by Supreme Court in 1973 that ruled “rights of privacy” and “rights for pregnant women to do whatever she wants to her baby”, and that includes abortion.

The world is divided concerning abortion. Some are down to it, some are against it. We are the later. We despise and we bitterly condemn abortion. It is true that these “mothers” (We do not know if we can refer to these women as mother) have the rights over their body and baby. However, instead of abortion, why do they not think about preventive action? For example, supporting “No Free-Sex” movement? Or, “Play-it-Safe” movement?

For us, abortion sounds like a first degree murder, and it is a crime against humanity and against the Holy One who has breathed life into it. Instead of aborting it, why do they not accept the baby? Or, it would be better to not enter sexual intercourse, if they are not ready for it. Because it is a life-time responsibility.

Abortion itself has negative drawbacks, such as natural miscarriage, infertility, and mental health problems (ranging from life-time guilt to suicidal thoughts).

Baby should be embraced with arms, not with scalpel and pincets.
