E-TLE for motorbike runs into effect in February 2020

Proving its effectiveness on four-wheel vehicles, the Electronic Traffic Law (E-TLE) will also be implemented on motorcycle treading on Jakarta roads starting 1 February 2020. Head of traffic police law enforcement, Sr. Adj. Comr Fahri Siregar, confirmed the news on Wednesday.

Running into effect in one week, the E-TLE will be implemented on two roads: Sudirman – Thamrin and Transjakarta’s Corridor 6's lane (Ragunan – Dukuh Atas). There are already 12 cameras installed for such a reason. Despite that, there were some violations done by the riders from violation of road marking to not wearing a helmet on the road.

The E-TLE’s procedure for motorcycles is the same as it is for four-wheels. If the camera detects discrepancies, the data (photo of the plate) will be sent to the system.

After checking the data of the violators, the police will send a ticket to the violators according to the address listed in the system by the area code and vehicle registration certificate. The number of cameras is going to increase by 45, expected to be done by February.

Since the E-TLE implementation on 1 November 2018 to November 2019, there were 54,074 violators. The fine amounted to Rp3.9 billion. On the other hand, the number of traffic violators decreased by 27 percent thanks to E-TLE.
