Did not reach the agreement, there is no resolution of climate change at the G20 meeting

Osaka, Japan – Unfortunately, according to AFP, until Saturday (6/29) morning local time, there is no latest agreement on climate change until and there is no signal whether the final statement can be completed today or within next week.

However, Japan was struggling to be able to help the European Union and the United States to reach an agreement regarding policy changes at the G20 Summit this weekend. According to the source US was trying to lure the G20 countries to side with them, while the Japanese delegation realized that they were facing a heavy diplomatic struggle during this issue.

Climate change issue is also something that The European Union wants to solve, while the US remains committed to leaving the Paris Agreement. Paris Agreement is a long-term policy framework for countries to reduce carbon emissions, so that the increase in world temperature can be below 2 degrees per year. However, the US said that they wanted to get out of this agreement starting in 2020 next year.

Apparently, this climate change issue is one of the difficult problems to unravel other than the issue of trade war. The focus of the trade war talks between the US and China was also hit by the format of the G20 economic talks, which focused on the global response after the crisis that occurred in 2008 that they did not have time to discuss about the climate change.

According to the source, the negotiations related to climate change yesterday were a tough night to several countries that is still waiting to be solved.
