Despite Trump's Tweets, Liu He to Come to USA

WASHINGTON - Trade talks between USA and China will continue, despite Donald Trump’s tweet about raising the tariff against China. The POTUS is generally known for his “bold and frontal” tweets, and China does not escape his strident criticism.

Recently, on his tweets on 5 May 2019, Trump threatened to increase tariff for the Chinese from 10% to 25%, quite a significant raise.

He accused that holding business with China would only end in continual loss. If this threat is actually real, there are $325 billion worth untaxed goods with 25% tariff.

Some experts said that the tweets were actually a test, in order to see whether the Chinese would give anything that USA put as a condition.

Liu He, the vice-premier of China, is going to Washington for the trade talks on Thursday and Friday this week. This visitation to Washington, according to the Chinese, symbolizes that they are durable to the threat that Trump imposed.  The expert stated on the contrary, that the visitation symbolizes China's desperation for the deal.

China did not say anything in response to the threat, still unwilling to change its laws. Just yesterday (7/5), Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, Geng Shuang, stated that the threat would not solve the problem, and despite the vague accusation against them, the trade negotiation will still be in motion. Meanwhile, China's economic recovery showed that they would not give up on the trade war.

This talk is a part of the trade war saga between USA and China, which almost reaches the resolution, should the talks work. The war shackles the world’s economy as one of the effects, as China and USA both threw tariff and tax to each other. Yesterday, economy ministers from France and Germany both call on both sides to finalize their trade war and to calm the tension that it has awoken in its step.
