Denver Illegalizes LSD

DENVER - On Wednesday (8/5), Denver became the first city in the US to make the usage of LSD or generally known as “magic mushroom” illegal.

People of Denver, Colorado, USA, voted for the restriction of the psilocybin, and the voters in favor of it (89,320) beat the opponent (87,341) by a narrow margin, in spite of the fact that on Tuesday, the people are against the bill. Should the people have persisted on their ground, the condition might have turned ugly.

Kevin Matthews, the leader of the campaign against LSD, was beyond “ecstatic” when his quest to decriminalize LSD finally bore its fruit. He stated that it was the voice of small people with the same vision – to create a world free of illegal drugs – that strive to make all of it happen.

When the new law runs into force, only 21+ is able to put their hands on the hallucinogen. That also means that the transaction involving the drug is also illegal and those who distribute it or use it will face charges.

The usage of LSD generates temporal hallucination within its user. For this reason, some spiritual institution and traditional, conservative group of people use it for its “magical” properties, claiming it is a “prophesy”.

Now, Kevin and his comrade will only have to wait for a week until 16 May. It is until all the votes from the military and from the overseas are in. However, their victory is almost certain.
