New political crisis took place in Hong Kong early Monday, after more than half a million people took to the streets rejecting proposed extradition law into mainland China for suspects involved in a number of cases. The protests later became chaotic when several hundred demonstrators clashed with a number of police outside the city parliament office.

Authorities stated that the mass of this action reached 240,000 people. While the organizers of Civil Rights Front claim that more than 1 million Hong Kong citizens take part. This action was allegedly one of the biggest protests in Hong Kong since 2003 related to national security law.

Quoted from Reuters, this clash began when protesters pushed past the police line and forced into the Legislative Council building. This action was driven away by police using pepper spray. Previously they had warned the demonstrators. Even some police have prepared tear gas weapons.

While the protesters responded by throwing bottles and using metal barricades to the police. According to AFP, there was one policeman who was seen wounded with blood flowing on his face.

According to a Reuters report, the streets were crowded along the demonstration route. "No China extradition, no law evil" call continued to echo in the streets of the city. While there was another march calling on Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam and other senior officials to step down.

Opposition to the law has brought together various communities. From business people, pro-establishment lawyers to students, pro-democracy figures and religious groups.
