Daichi Suzuki to exchange of opinions on the "Issue of Prefectural Government"

In preparation for the election of the governor of Chiba Prefecture, whose term will expire in April 2021, members of the Diet and prefectural assembly of the LDP prefectural leaders held a meeting in Tokyo with Daichi Suzuki, a former Japan Sports Agency director from Narashino City, on the 5th. According to people familiar with the matter, the prefectural federation has been consulting with Mr. Suzuki for candidacy, and at the meeting, he exchanged opinions on prefectural government issues. The prefectural federation will hold a meeting by members of the Diet and decide to support Mr. Suzuki.

At the meeting, eight members, including a member of the House of Representatives Hiromichi Watanabe, who was the chairman of the prefectural federation, a member of the Diet who was the chairman of the prefectural federation in the past, and a prefectural council of the prefectural federation executives, talked with Mr. Suzuki. After the meeting, Chairman Watanabe explained to the press that "the event was held to learn about Mr. Suzuki's personality and each other's ideas as much as possible." In addition, Mr. Suzuki only stated, "I heard about the problems of Chiba prefecture and the prefectural government today," and declined to make any remarks regarding the candidacy.

Regarding the governor's election, Mayor Toshihito Kumagai (42) of Chiba City has decided to run for office, and Masanori Kadota (73) of the former Funabashi City Council has announced that he will run. Currently, the third term governor, Kensaku Morita (70), has not announced his advancement or retreat.
