Curious with Transjakarta's First Ever Electric Bus?

Jakarta, Indonesia - Head of the Transportation Service Syafrin Liputo stated that The Jakarta Provincial Government is still testing the travel power of electric buses managed by PT TransJakarta that has been tested since June 2019.

He said that they are still testing whether the buses are able to travel 200 kilometers per day, how much will the buses charge, how long will the operation be, and to see and adjust electric buses to Jakarta's environmental conditions to ensure the safety and productivity.

Syafrin said that his team is also making sure public services are not disrupted despite using electric cars. The government is adjusting it to the habits of the people in the capital city, ranging from charging systems to operational to make the activities easier.

Jakarta Regional House of Representatives Commission B member, Yuke Yurike said she will fully support the program to realize electric buses in Jakarta as the air pollution in the capital city is very worrying nowadays.

Not only preparing the infrastructure, Yuke requested that the government to continue to educate the public to be aware of maintaining the air condition. Some ways to make the air condition healthier are by keep campaigning to reduce private vehicles and use vehicles that are environmentally friendly everyday in daily life.

However, she admitted that the cost per unit to prepare an electric bus is three times more expensive than a diesel-powered vehicle that was priced at IDR 2 billion per unit. It is reported that later on the tariff that will be imposed by this electric bus will still be the same as diesel-fueled TransJakarta for IDR 3.500,- per ticket.
