Russia's communications watchdog, Roskomnadzor decided to impose a fine of 700 thousand rubles to Google because considers that this technology giant have failed to fulfill legal requirements, that is to filter search results that are believed to display illegal information.

Russia's request towars Google to censor their search results is not the first time. Previously in November 2018, Google also received a fine of US $ 7,500 because they was considered unable to fulfill the request to censor content.

Even so, reported from The Moscow Times, Google employee said that until February 2019, they had they have tried to meet the requirements propose by Rusia. Google has also deleted about 70 percent of sites from search results that are blacklisted.

Russia has indeed been tightening censorship rules on the internet for the past five years. Rozkomnadzor prohibits this technology companies from displaying topics related to pornography, children, narcotics and suicide because they are accused of being state censorship. He also asked Google to delete content from search results called potentially saving the user's personal data to the company's server.

Google's compliance is inversely proportional to Twitter and Facebook. The two social media services are reported to have refused to censor the content at Rozkomnadzor's request.
