Competing with the Increased Chinese Influence, US Marine Special Ports will be Built Soon in Darwin

Darwin, Australia - According to Australia's national broadcast media, ABC, on Monday (6/24/19), Australia plans to build a deep sea port on the country's north coast to accommodate the spread of the US Navy, and it will located about 40 kilometers north of Darwin, in the Northern Territory as the local government had rented its port to China in 2015 previously.

The decision will be done as part of Australia's efforts to fight China's growing presence or to compete with China's increasing influence in the region that has affected Australians.

It is reported the facilities at the port are planned to accommodate giant US amphibious warships. As a part of military cooperation between Australia and the US, the US Marine Corps with more than two thousand troops is deliberately placed in the Darwin area and rotated every year.

Apparently, the new port in the Darwin area was designed as a military facility and a place to accommodate US ships. Australian ports at Glyde Point, Darwin will also be used for commercial and industrial purposes to make the business flow easier.

However, until present day, there has been no further information from either the US consulate in Sydney or the Australian Defense Ministry regarding the new port in Darwin.

According to the source, the announcement regarding Australia's new port in Darwin will be released in the next few weeks to coincide with the joint military training activities of Talisman Saber between US and Australia as the new decision is still in discussion.
