Climate Protest in Dorset

DORSET - English people in Dorset took global warming seriously. As the threat in form of climate change is getting worse, members of Extinction Rebellion in Dorchester and Weymouth are going to hold a rally to County Hall in order to call for the Council’s action to mitigate the effect of climate change.

The rally is going to start from Borough Gardens to the Dorset’s office on County Hill, at 08.30 a.m local time. They deemed that the Dorset office should follow what the central parliament of UK has declared in the beginning of May (1/5), that UK is facing climate emergency. In fact, UK was the first country in the world that declared climate emergency.

About 59 declarations had been made, following the Parliament’s announcement. Dorset is not one of which. This fact sparked a little anxiety among the environmentalists in Dorset.

Andy Smith, the envoy of the environmentalists association, said that the government must follow the Parliament, and they must not underestimate the extreme climate change that is happening throughout the globe. For the Rebellion, Dorset council should take more radical, direct approach to mitigate the effect of global warming in UK.

Extinction Rebellion – known as XR – had held a climate protest in London, and it ended in catastrophe. The XR blockaded the traffic in London, and the Police had to arrest 1.200 activists over the rally. However, Smith assured that this rally will be a non-violent rally.
