Classes at Prince Hisahito's School Resume After Knife Incident

TOKYO - There was an incident last month at Prince Hisahito's junior high school in Tokyo. An intruder left knives at Prince Hisahito's desk, on April 26, just before the beginning of the Golden Week holiday. This year's golden week is different because the holiday was extended to a 10 days holiday. The holiday happened to celebrate the enthronement of Emperor Naruhito. With the new emperor, Japan also starts a new era called Reiwa. Emperor Naruhito is the uncle of Prince Hisahito.

On April 26, two knives were suddenly attached to Prince Hisahito's desk. The knives were attached using a duct tape. The suspect turned out to be Kaoru Hasegawa, who disguised himself as a contractor. Hasegawa was able to trespassed the school through the school's ground. Since he disguised himself as a contractor, nobody suspected him. However, the police could immediately arrest Hasegawa and he is now in jail for threatening the prince.

According to a parent whose kid is also attending the school, after the incident happened, the school immediately held parent meetings. During the meeting, the school apologized and promised to strengthen the security of the school.

Now that the golden week is over, the students have to go back to school. However, Prince Hisahito is reported to be back happily with no worry.

The suspect, Hasegawa, told the investigator that he's against the Japan's imperial system to which he wanted to stab Prince Hisahito.
