Clash at Nations League, 2 English Arrested

PORTO - Soccer fans and their hooliganism are unbelievable. Soccer is a beautiful game, but most of the times stained by hooliganism and clashes between the fans. Either solidarity or drunkenness, these fans bring the beautiful game down to its beneath.

Aftermath the semifinal clash between Portugal and Switzerland on 2018/19 UEFA Nations League at Estádio do Dragão, Porto, a clash occurred between English and Portuguese fans at UEFA fanzones set up at Avenida dos Aliados.

These soccer hooligans threw bottles and clashed with Portuguese fans. To prevent things from worse to worst, Polícia de Segurança Pública (PSP) had to break up the clash. Out of the clash, the police had to secure 2 English fans, reported Alexandre Coimbra, a member of PSP.

The clash occurred in the first half of the match, at 8 p.m local time. Some Twitter users recorded the clash, showing PSPs with their shields and batons to break up the clash.

Then, both sides returned to their own fanzone to watch the second half. Approximately, there were about 100 English soccer fans involved at that time.

When the police secured these 2 English fans and about to secure another anarchic fan, the English then turned their hands and bottles to the police. Much solidarity. The motive of the clash is being investigated.

This clash between English soccer hooligans and other fans was much feared by Football Association (FA). English soccer hooliganism has been a priority concern for PSP, from 22,000 PSP members 9,000 members were deployed to secure the Nations League.

The semi final stage was then won 3-1 for the Portuguese, after a hat-trick by Cristiano Ronaldo. Swiss player, Ricardo Rodriguez, could only diminish the gap between the two by penalty kick.

Tomorrow, The Three Lions are set to face The Dutch at Estádio D. Afonso Henriques stadium, Guimaraes on the second semifinal clash for the finals. FA estimated that there will be 18,000 English fans at the stadium to show their utmost support for Gareth Southgate’s men. The number alone beat Dutch and Swiss 3:1.

For that much fans, tomorrow is going to be a long day for the police.
