China to Other Tech Giants: Trump's Ban Is Going to End Bad

BEIJING - The Chinese let Trump taste his own medicine. China warns other tech giants not to comply with the ban. On Tuesday (4/6) and Wednesday (5/6), Chinese government held meetings with prominent tech companies, including Samsung (S. Korea), Dell and Microsoft (US), to discuss the action which US had taken prior against its product: Huawei.

The meeting was held in Beijing by China’s Central Economic Planning Agency & National Development and Reform Commission. The attendants of the meeting were not only these big tech companies, but also attended by envoys Ministry of Commerce & Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

In the meeting set to be held soon after an announcement made on Friday (31/5) – a day when the Chinese proclaimed that they would also slapped US$ 60 billion tariff raise over American imported goods -, China stated that they were going to make a list of “untrustworthy” foreign firms. Evidently, it is China's retaliation toward America's Huawei ban.

The list went on and on as many companies had severed their ties with Huawei, both for their components and gadgets. In other words, if any company takes heed of Trump’s ban (stop or interfering China’s product supplies), violate market rules, and damage Chinese’s interest, they will go straight to the list, said Gao Feng, spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Commerce.

For Paul Triolo, consultant for Eurasia Group, US’ ban against Huawei product and tariff raise against China show their fear, should China’s grow more advanced and better than their own technology products. Nonetheless, Mr. Triolo pointed out that the ban and the raise also put China’s interest and technology development at risk.

Furthermore, Trump’s government also is considering to also blockade 5 Chinese surveillance system companies from entering US.

All of these blockades and raises could only raise people’s suspicion that the Americans are just trying to stop China’s economic & technology growth and to keep the hegemony & superiority to their own.
