Cheese, delicious food to lower blood pressure

A study revealed that eating cheese is advisable to keep your body out of harm’s way due to salty food. Salty food contains a high amount of antioxidants in it, and too much of it may damage the blood vessel.

We all know that too much salt results in high blood pressure. It is caused by the imbalance between the antioxidants and free radicals in one’s body. This might lead to cardiovascular diseases such as heart attacks, and stroke. According to the American Heart Association, the best salt intake is at 3.75g (1.5g of sodium).

Fortunately for cheese lovers, eating cheese might help you to prevent this.

This study, supported by the National Dairy Council, involved 11 healthy adults who don’t smoke nor do they take any medications. On a side note, these adults have no salt sensitivity. Without salt sensitivity, these adults’ blood pressure may rise when they consume food high in salt. To ensure the correctness of the test, these adults underwent a blood test and urine test weekly.

The 11 adults then had to follow four separate diets for eight times a day. It was seen that with high sodium diets, these adults show signs of narrowing arteries and blood vessel dysfunction. As you might say, this is the drawback of a high sodium diet.

Afterward, these adults consumed four servings of cheese a day, equal to 170g cheese a day. The researchers then injected acetylcholine, a chemical to make blood vessels relax, into their blood vessels to see how their body would react.

For the “high sodium, no dairy” diet, the body seemed to reject the chemical, more difficult to get relaxed, being referred to the researchers as "what they often see from a cardiovascular sufferer". But, for the “high sodium, high cheese” diet, the blood vessels seem to relax just fine.

Therefore, we advise you to replace other dairy products to cheese as it shows the best to tackle the blood pressure issue.
