Champions League: Liverpool win after defeating Tottenham Hotspurs 2-0

Liverpool finally got their Champions League title after Mohammed Salah and Divock Origi managed to break into Spurs’ post 2-0 at Wanda Metropolitano Stadium

Tottenham Hotspurs’ nightmare happened when the game just had started for 2 minutes. The Spurs’ central midfielder, Moussa Sissoko, was punished for handball. The referee gave Liverpool a penalty and Salah succeed to execute it.   

Spurs had to admit their loss to the Reds after Origi scored a goal in three minutes before the match ended (87’). The closing goal from the Reds striker ensured the 6thChampions League title for Klopp and team. 

This season is the first time for Jurgen Klopp to achieve the Champions League trophy with Liverpool since starting the club’s head coach role in 2015. In last Champions League final match in Kiev, Ukraine, the Reds’ hope to get a victory vanished after Real Madrid kicked them out by 3-1.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said that this season was intense with the most beautiful finish he ever could have imagined. 

Previously, Liverpool became the Premier League’s runner up after collected 97 points just one behind Manchester City.  

On Sunday, the team’s triumph parade will be around their home city starting at 16:00 BST.
