Car Crash in Bolivia, British Teenagers Found Dead

BOLIVIA - A tourist car was overturned on Sunday night (9/6) in Bolivia. The crash took 3 people as its casualties: 2 British teens and 1 Bolivian native. The British teenagers were still 19 years old. Aside from the British victims, the driver of the 4x4 – Bolivian native – was also one of the soulless victims of the crash.

Four other passengers in the car, believed to be British and Argentine nationalities, were injured.

The crash occurred at Salar de Uyuni, literally meaning “flat enclosure”. The flat is located 186 miles south of La Paz, capital of Bolivia. Spanning at approximately 4,080 square miles and a part of Andes Mountains’ high plateau area, the flat is known to be the world’s most spacious salt flat. It is the one of the most well-known tourist destinations in Bolivia.

Due to its spacious size, there is no other way to get around the flat, except by car.

Freddie Michael McLennan and George Joseph Atkins (both 19) did not know that their holiday to Bolivia would be their last, while Alberto Barco (22) did not know that the ride would be his last drive.

Colonel Bernardo Isnado, commander of traffic police, revealed the fact that Barco spurred his car over the speed limit, before the car overturned.

A video spread on the social media shows that the overturned car suffered major damage. Luckily for the other 4 passengers, they were spared from the death toll.

The crash is being investigated further.
