Canada Finally Takes Out Its Trash from Philippines

MANILA - After a long dispute, trash came back home. Canada has been piling trash in the ASEAN country since years ago, precisely since 2013. Rodrigo Duterte had had enough of it. He was so annoyed with the trash, in the recent weeks, people of Philippines had been protesting on road to ask Trudeau to take out the trash and put it somewhere else, but not in Philippines.

The case started when the trash tricked Philippines upon receiving it. Instead of receiving only recyclable plastics, they also received nasty stuffs that are not recyclable.

Finally, their protests bore fruit. Today, Catherine McKenna, Canadian Minister of Environment, stated in an official statement that Canada would take out the trash. To wrap things up, Philippines just has to sit nicely and let Canada do the shipping back and forth.

However, the story is not that well. Canada actually missed the deadline set by Duterte to take out the trash, which is on 15 May. Duterte then told Canada that if the trash stayed still, he would recall the Representative of Philippines back, which would mean no diplomatic ties between the country.

Even if he would have to fight Trudeau for it, he was more than ready for it. How? Salvador Panelo, Duterte’s Spokesperson, said that if Canada could do it, of course Philippines could too. They would throw away trash as much as Canada’s to any Canada’s shoreline.
